POLAP Is Establishing The Navigator Company’s Only Paper Stock and Logistics Hub in the Baltics
A regional paper stock and logistics hub at POLAP’s warehouse in Riga will provide customers in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia with faster, more reliable and more predictable access to paper.
POLAP has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with The Navigator Company — one of Europe’s leading pulp and paper producers — to establish a regional stock and logistics hub for uncoated woodfree (UWF) paper at our warehouse in Riga.
The new hub will be The Navigator Company’s only paper stock and logistics centre of its kind in the Baltics. It will serve not only the Latvian market, but also IGEPA Group companies and their customers in Lithuania and Estonia, strengthening paper availability throughout the Baltic region.
Paper Availability – A Key Competitive Factor
In the printing industry, paper quality and price are not the only decisive factors. For urgent or unplanned print jobs, material availability and delivery speed are equally critical.
If paper has to be sourced from distant warehouses, it can affect order fulfilment. At the same time, holding large inventories in-house creates additional costs and ties up resources.
The Navigator hub is being established to bring paper closer to customers across the Baltics and ensure faster, more consistent availability.
What Does a Paper Stock and Logistics Hub Mean in This Project?
The hub is a physical paper stock and logistics centre at POLAP’s warehouse in Riga, rather than a digital solution.
It will hold stocks of The Navigator Company paper that can be rapidly allocated to meet demand in the Baltic markets. This will shorten lead times and improve the continuity and reliability of supply.
Riga will become the central logistics hub serving Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Initially – The Most In-Demand Soporset Premium Offset Products
During the initial phase, the hub will stock four to five of the most in-demand Soporset Premium Offset items.
The range will be expanded gradually in line with customer demand and market dynamics across the Baltics, with a focus on the most frequently used products.
Key Benefits for POLAP Customers
The new hub will provide:
- faster access to paper held in stock in Riga;
- shorter lead times;
- greater security of supply;
- increased flexibility in responding to urgent orders;
- more accurate production planning;
- the opportunity to reduce customers’ own inventory levels.
A Unique Partnership Model in Europe
POLAP is the first paper merchant in Europe to be entrusted by The Navigator Company with establishing and operating a hub of this kind.
It is also the only IGEPA Group company to operate under this model, combining the manufacturer’s expertise with POLAP’s experience in the Baltic market and regional logistics.
Another Step Towards a More Resilient Supply Chain
The hub forms part of POLAP’s long-term development strategy, which is focused on strengthening the supply chain and raising service levels for customers.
It will complement our existing logistics capabilities and enable us to provide reliable, fast paper deliveries across the Baltics even more efficiently.
